Boys

This week's journal entry is from our human mom...

The kids are great, they are becoming so animated.  We now can feed them outside in a pen, which makes it easier.  When you wake them up, you can pick them up and take them outside and they will piddle when they hit the grass, so they are already at the stage where they want to keep their sleeping area clean, if they can hold it.

Yesterday I took each one aside by itself for 15 minutes and played with them and watched them to get a feel for personalities.  I made a lot of notes.  Brian is going to do the same tonight with the girls and tomorrow with the boys, and we'll compare.  Then we will start to do that about every 5 days.  we think we are already seeing some patterns developing.  It's interesting to me to see the differences in littermates.

Interestingly enough, the 4 smaller girls, and especially the 2 littlest, Stripes and Purple, have the most playful, outgoing, and affectionate personalities.  It may be coincidence, it may be because they were given so much extra attention to keep them going.

Some personality notes:

Girls:
Black is an escape artist.  The pig rails in the whelping box (meant to keep them in) is just a launching pad for Black.  She's a terrible busy body, always on the move.
The Liver girl is really fun, spunky, confident, and also a real lover.
Green is a real cutie and knows it.  She does all kinds of girly things like batting her eyes and cocking her head to look cute.  She loves attention and demands it whenever you look at her.
Miss Piggy is very fastidious and neat.  She hates it when her feet get wet and finds the cleanest part of the whelping box for herself.  She never misses a meal, though, and doesn't mind a little food on her paws.
Red/White (or Two Tone) is Miss Dominant.  She takes on her brothers and makes them squeal.  She's no sissy despite the fact that she was the weakest one the day she was born.  She has certainly made up for that!
Red/White/Blue (or Stripes) is still a bit on the small side but doesn't seem to notice cit.  She is very busy all of the time, quick and playful.  She's quite a tomboy.
I have to laugh at Purple because she is so little, yet still attempts to beat up on her big brothers!  She is really getting cute, too, no longer has that "preemie, cocker spaniel" look.  And so sweet!

Boys:
Blue is a typical big boy, beating up on his sisters.  He is very affectionate and when he wants attention he wants it now.
Checkers looks like a little old man right now the bushy eyebrows and whiskers.  He sort of has that personality as well - mellow and taking life in stride.
Lime has an absolutely beautiful classic Flatcoat head.  He is very playful and while on the small side right now, he sure doesn't know it.  He's a "big dog in a small dog body".  He's very people oriented.
Yellow is very mellow, he loves being held and cuddled.  He's very easy going, not demanding but petting is high on his list of priorities.
White is Handsome Dude.  He loves to explore, especially in the expensive flowers.  He is bold and inquisitive and likes his space - so much so that he sleeps up on the pig rail!  Apparently he likes the upper bunk.
Red is an independent go-getter.  The world is his to explore and he's on a mission to get it  done as soon as possible.
